Turquoise Macrame Cord | 164 yd Spool
- Knotted by hand in natural cotton, one piece at a time
- Dimensions listed in inches on every page, so you can measure the wall first
- Ready to hang — no tools beyond a nail and a level for most pieces
- Free shipping across the United States, no minimum
Cotton asks very little. Dust with a soft brush or a vacuum on low suction, and spot-clean marks with cool water and a cloth. Keep the piece out of direct sun if you want the ecru to stay ecru. Anything washable goes in cold — 86 °F or below — and dries flat, never in a dryer. Fringe can be combed straight with your fingers.
Every product page lists the exact dimensions in inches, so measure your wall before you order rather than after. Most wall hangings need nothing more than a nail and a level. Heavier pieces, and anything holding a plant, belong on a stud or a proper wall anchor — the weight tells you which. Plant hangers are measured from the top ring to the bottom of the tassel. Description
Teal blue 2 mm cotton macramé thread
Charming and enchanting, the 2 mm teal blue macramé thread is a real hit with DIY macramé makers. The intense color of a turquoise blue soothes a home. Play on a color echo by matching your macramé with teal blue furniture or home textiles in the same room for a sumptuous, refined result.
The twisted macramé thread, 2 mm in diameter, will let you make every type of macramé. Wall decor, plant hanger or fashion accessory: go for a spool of macramé thread 164 yards long so you can vary your creations and your pleasures. Its diameter makes it a cord perfectly suited to small knots, and so at the same time to small projects. The same twisted range also comes as the 2 mm gray macramé thread and the 3 mm purple macramé cord.
What length of cord?
Depending on the dimensions of the project you want to make, the diameter of the cord you have chosen and how often you use it, the length of cord needed can vary from one spool to another. As a general rule, the spool of thread used should measure between 4 and 6 times the total length of the macramé design you want to create.
A few examples:
A classic plant hanger requires about 21 yards of cord.
A medium-sized macramé wall hanging takes about 40 to 49 yards of cord.
Detailed calculation:
1. First work out the number of cords to use for the width of your macramé → project width / (3 x cord diameter)
2. Then work out the cord length you need as follows:
- for standard knots → project length x 4
- for tight knots → project length x 6
When your cord is folded in half around a support, as with a wall hanging, double the length you get and add 2 in of margin for the starting knot.
To be as precise as possible, we recommend running several tests on the different knot patterns your project calls for, so you can determine the length of cord needed for each type of knot.
3. Work out the total length of cord needed as follows → number of cords x cord length
Worked example:
Let us take the example of a macramé wall hanging 9.5 in wide and 15.5 in long made with a cord 4 mm in diameter and standard knots:
Width = 24 / (3 x 0.4) = 20. So you will use 20 cords of 4 mm across the width.
Length = (40 x 4) x 2 + 5 = 325. So you will use cords 128 in long, that is 3 yd.
You will therefore need 20 cords of 3 yd to make your macramé wall hanging.
Total cord needed = 20 x 3.25 = 71 yards
If you practice macramé regularly, allow yourself a larger or smaller margin to avoid any nasty surprises. All the more so since unused cord will not go to waste and can serve you for other creative projects.

Made in the details
Natural cotton cord, wooden beads turned smooth, a dowel chosen to carry the weight — the details are what separate a piece you keep from one you replace. Every knot is worked by hand, which is why no two pieces fall exactly alike.
