The walls larger art cannot reach

Compact knotwork solves specific spots: the strip beside a doorframe, the space over a nightstand, a bathroom wall, the dead end of a hallway. Sizes stay modest, among them a tasseled design at 20 x 14 in and a natural boho piece at 26 x 15 in. The black and white panel holds its own beside framed prints without shouting over them. The beaded western hanging with feathers brings wooden beads into a grouping that would otherwise be all paper and glass. A mini macramé, a slim vertical tapestry, palm leaves sold individually and a set of five ivory feathers give you parts to arrange rather than one finished statement.

Grouping, mounting and rented walls

On a gallery wall, one or two knotted pieces among the frames is usually the limit before the texture starts competing with itself. Lay the layout out on the floor first, allow two to three inches between items, and align on the dowel ends rather than the bottom of the fringe, which varies from piece to piece. Weight is rarely a problem at this size, so adhesive hooks hold fine and leave rental plaster untouched. A cactus design in green and yellow was made for a nursery and works above a changing table. Brush dust off gently, and untangle fringe with your fingers, working up from the ends. The knotted language of the original revival lives in the vintage 70s wall hangings.
